Meet Dr. Gerstner
Dr. Gervaise Gerstner is one of the most respected and sought-after physicians
in New York City. A board certified dermatologist for over 17 years, Dr. Gerstner
is acclaimed worldwide for her pioneering expertise with Fraxel® laser, microneedling with PRP, Botox and Filler treatments. Her skill with a range of lasers allows her to serve as a preceptor and lecturer for these state-of-the-art skin resurfacing treatments. Her deft touch and innate artistry, combined with the latest technologies in skin care, have provided men, women and children of all ages the results they desire with as little discomfort as possible. A firm believer in preventative skin care, Dr. Gerstner has consistently earned her clients’ confidence and praise by looking for the long-term solution and not just the simple fix.
The daughter of a vascular surgeon and the sister of a spine surgeon, Dr. Gerstner has long had a passion for helping others. She enjoys and is most adept at alleviating patients’ concerns and helping them understand and maintain the lifelong benefits of optimal skin health.
Her comprehensive research on an array of topics from chemical peels to melanoma serves as a basis for continuing study of techniques for not only looking and feeling better but saving lives. She has been published in numerous dermatological and medical journals and has served as editor for Clinics in Dermatology, a medical journal addressing treatment and care of skin disorders.
Dr. Gerstner graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Princeton University, where she also obtained a certificate in photography and visual arts, supporting her appreciation for aesthetic excellence.
She earned her M.D. from New York’s Mount Sinai Medical School. After her internship, she completed her dermatology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. She was selected as Chief Resident of Dermatology for Mount Sinai and its affiliates during her final year.
Currently, Dr. Gerstner continues her association with Mount Sinai, where she is Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology. She has been voted "Teacher of the Year" Award multiple years. She also volunteers in both clinical and academic settings and has served as interviewer for potential students for Mount Sinai Medical School as well as her alma mater Princeton University. Dr. Gerstner is an associate member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatologic Surgeons. She is also a member of the Dermatology Foundation and the Skin Cancer Foundation.
Dr. Gerstner rounds out her solid academic background with her business and beauty acumen. She has served as the global ambassador for L’Oreal Paris and is currently the head medical consultant for DERMA-E, a prestigious clean beauty brand with high eco-ethical standards. Her insights on beauty products and skincare are frequently sought for publication in print and digital media.
From her conveniently located Manhattan office, Dr. Gerstner treats international patients, including movie, television and Broadway celebrities, but always focuses on the individual attention every patient needs. Teenage skin care is a huge part of her practice, especially since she has two daughters. Dr Gerstner quarterbacks the medical care for many of her patients from endocrinology to oncology to integrative health.
